Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how GoVans.ie ("GoVans", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit govans.ie or engage with us for a moving service. We are committed to complying with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Irish Data Protection Act 2018 and the ePrivacy Regulations 2011 (SI 336/2011).

1. Who we are (Data Controller)

GoVans.ie is a Dublin-based moving service. For all data-protection matters:

  • Trading name: GoVans.ie
  • Location: Dublin, Ireland
  • Email: info@govans.ie
  • Phone: +353 87 419 9541

2. What data we collect

We only collect the minimum information needed to give you a moving quote and deliver the service:

  • Contact details you give us — name, phone number, email address, message. Provided when you use our contact / quote form or call us.
  • Job details — pickup and drop-off addresses, item description, preferred date. Used only to price and complete your move.
  • Technical data — IP address (anonymised in analytics), browser type, referring page, device. Collected via cookies subject to your consent.
  • Communication records — WhatsApp and email correspondence, kept as evidence of the agreement.

We do not collect payment card details on this website. Payments (if any) are agreed and settled directly with our team.

3. Why we use it (legal bases)

  • Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to give you a quote, arrange the move, and follow up afterwards.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for optional analytics and marketing cookies, and for any marketing follow-ups. Withdraw any time via the "Manage cookies" footer link.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep basic security logs and prevent fraud/spam on our booking forms.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where required for tax or accounting records.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We only share it with the service providers strictly necessary to operate the site and deliver your move:

  • Google (Ireland) Ltd — Gmail SMTP for delivering form submissions to our inbox; Google Ads conversion tracking (only if you consent to marketing cookies).
  • PostHog — anonymised product analytics (only if you consent to analytics cookies). Data is stored on Google Cloud (EU / US regions).
  • Hosting provider — our web hosting partner provides secure infrastructure; they do not access customer data.
  • Irish Revenue & auditors — where legally required for tax or accounting.

Where any of these providers transfer data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved on 4 June 2021, or an equivalent adequacy decision.

5. How long we keep it

  • Contact / quote enquiries: up to 24 months from last contact, then deleted.
  • Completed booking records (invoicing / tax): 7 years per Irish tax law.
  • Cookie consent record: 12 months, after which we ask you again.
  • Anonymised analytics: up to 14 months.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold on you (right of access, Art. 15).
  • Correct any inaccurate data (Art. 16).
  • Request deletion of your data (Art. 17), subject to legal obligations.
  • Restrict or object to processing (Art. 18 / 21).
  • Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a portable format (Art. 20).
  • Withdraw consent at any time without affecting past lawful processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@govans.ie. We respond within 30 days.

7. Data Protection Commission

If you believe we've mishandled your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC):
