If you live in Kildare, you've probably noticed the same thing every Dublin renter has — the local moving market is thinner than it should be for a county with 250,000 people and growing fast. The Dublin commuter belt has exploded in the last five years. Naas, Newbridge, Maynooth, Celbridge, Leixlip, Kilcock, Kildare town and Athy have all picked up new estates, new arrivals, and a steady stream of people moving in from Dublin chasing cheaper rent and bigger gardens.
That growth has not been matched by a growth in honest, affordable man-with-a-van services. Most of the bigger removal companies are still Dublin-only, charging a kilometre rate that makes a Naas move feel ridiculous. We started covering Kildare from our Dublin base for exactly that reason — there was a clear gap, and a lot of frustrated customers ringing us looking for a fairer price.
Where in Kildare do we cover?
Every town in Kildare, but the bulk of our weekly bookings come from Naas, Newbridge, Maynooth, Celbridge, Leixlip, Sallins, Clane, Kilcock, Kildare town and Athy. We're regularly out in Monasterevin, Kilcullen and Rathangan as well. Anything inside the county boundary is covered, and most jobs are done the same day or the next morning at the latest.
The most popular booking by a country mile is the Dublin-to-Kildare move. Renters priced out of Dublin 6, Drumcondra and Rathmines moving to a 3-bed semi-d in Naas or Newbridge for half the rent. Reverse-commuters heading the other way — people who got a job in Dublin, sold their house in Kildare town, and need a single coordinated move to a flat in the city.
Real Kildare prices in 2026
Single-item delivery within Kildare
€70-€100. A sofa from Naas to Newbridge, a fridge from Maynooth to Celbridge, a wardrobe between two streets in Kildare town. Flat-rate jobs, usually completed within the hour of you ringing.
Dublin to Kildare (or Kildare to Dublin)
€130-€220 depending on the volume and the exact route. A 1-bed flat from Stoneybatter to Naas typically runs around €150. A small house from Rathmines to Newbridge would be closer to €200. We don't pad the bill with a 'rural surcharge' the way some Dublin firms do.
Internal Kildare house move (1-bed to 3-bed)
€180-€450. A 2-bed in Maynooth moving to a 3-bed in Kilcock would be around €280. A full 3-bed semi-d move within Naas typically lands at €350-€420. Inter-county moves out to Carlow or Laois are quoted on the day based on distance — usually a flat job price rather than per hour.
IKEA Ballymun delivery to Kildare
€130-€160 to anywhere in Kildare. Compare that to IKEA's own delivery, which charges a Kildare surcharge on top of standard pricing and quotes 1-3 weeks of waiting. We can usually collect from IKEA Ballymun in the morning and have your flat-pack at your door in Naas or Maynooth before lunch.
Kildare commuter-belt routes we know well
Knowing the route saves real money on every Kildare job. We run the N7 corridor multiple times a day — Newlands Cross to Naas, the Newbridge bypass, the slip into Kildare town. Heading west out of Dublin, the M4 to Maynooth, Kilcock and onto Athlone. South-bound on the N81 to Blessington and Baltinglass for anyone working between Wicklow and Kildare.
The biggest time drains on Kildare moves are not the kilometres — they're the bottlenecks. The Naas Road around Citywest at 4pm, the M50 at any time on a Friday, the N7 northbound on a Sunday evening when half the country drives back to Dublin. We plan around those windows so your van isn't burning hours in traffic with the meter running.
Moving from Dublin to Kildare: the practical checklist
If you're making the Dublin-to-Kildare move that thousands have made over the last few years, a few things are different from a within-Dublin move and worth flagging:
- Internet lead time is longer in Kildare. Eir, Virgin and Sky all serve Kildare but new installations can take 3-4 weeks. Book it as soon as you sign your lease or close your sale, not the week of the move.
- Schools: Kildare primary and secondary places are competitive in Naas, Maynooth and Newbridge. If you have kids, line up the school before the move and get your registration paperwork in early.
- Bin collection days vary by town — Naas, Newbridge and Maynooth all run different schedules. Find the new schedule online before moving day so you know which week is recycling.
- Parking is rarely a problem in Kildare estates but worth confirming with the seller or landlord whether the driveway will be empty when we arrive.
- Heating: most Kildare houses run on oil or LPG rather than gas. If you're a Dublin renter used to a gas combi boiler, factor in the cost of an oil tank fill on day one — typically €600-€800 for a full tank in 2026.
Why hire a Dublin-based man with a van for a Kildare move?
There are a handful of small one-man Kildare operations, and they're fine for very local jobs. The advantage of a Dublin-based service like GoVans.ie covering Kildare is mostly about scale, availability and pricing transparency. We run multiple vans every day, so same-day availability is rarely an issue. Our pricing is fixed and published rather than 'we'll see on the day'.
We also cover both ends of every Kildare-Dublin job under one booking. If you're moving from Phibsborough to Naas, you don't need to coordinate two separate teams or pay one company for the Dublin pickup and another for the Kildare delivery. One van, one team, one fixed price. Have a look at our Dublin coverage if your move starts on the Dublin side.
Common Kildare moving mistakes
- Booking too late before the end of the academic year. Maynooth's student population means May/June bookings fill up early — book 3-4 weeks ahead if you can.
- Underestimating the distance to the new place. People assume Naas is 'just down the road' until they realise it's 35-40 minutes in evening traffic. Build that into your moving day timeline.
- Skipping the oil tank check at handover. Empty oil tanks are common in vacant Kildare houses. Ask the seller or letting agent to confirm the fill level and put it in writing.
- Trying to do it in a Transit Connect or a friend's estate car. The amount of unnecessary stress that creates is huge — by the third trip you've wasted a full Saturday and €100 in diesel.
- Booking a Dublin-based national firm for a Kildare move. National firms charge a steep kilometre rate beyond the M50. Local Kildare-Dublin services like ours don't.
Same-day and weekend moves across Kildare
Most Kildare moves we take are booked 3-10 days in advance, but we also handle a steady flow of same-day jobs — emergency moves, last-minute IKEA pickups, marketplace collections that need to happen today. We're available 7 days a week including Sundays, and we don't charge a weekend premium.
If you need a man with a van in Kildare today, the fastest way to get a quote is to send a quick WhatsApp message on 087 419 9541 with the two addresses and what you're moving. We'll come back with a fixed price in 1-2 minutes.
Specific Kildare town guides
Moving to Naas
Naas has grown faster than almost any town in Ireland over the last decade. The newer estates around the Caragh Road and the Sallins Road are easy moves with wide roads and driveway access. The older town centre — around Main Street and the courthouse — is a different proposition, with narrow lanes and limited parking. For town-centre Naas moves we'll usually plan a 6-8am arrival to grab a kerb spot before the daytime traffic builds.
Moving to Newbridge
Newbridge is one of the most popular Dublin-relocation targets thanks to the direct train line and the M7. The Curragh-side estates and the developments around Athgarvan have great access. Newbridge Town Centre is fine outside Saturday afternoons. If you're moving with a young family, the local schools fill up fast — get on the list before signing the lease.
Moving to Maynooth
Maynooth has a uniquely seasonal rhythm thanks to the university. The biggest moving windows are early September (student intake) and mid-May (term end). Outside those windows it's one of the easier Kildare towns to move into — broad estate roads, good parking, an easy M4 exit. If you're a parent dropping a student off at Maynooth University, the residences typically have a strict 30-minute loading window so book a slot in advance.
Moving to Celbridge, Leixlip and Kilcock
The N4/M4 corridor villages have grown into proper commuter towns. Celbridge is the largest of the three with a busy main street; Leixlip benefits from the Intel and HP campuses driving a constant rental market; Kilcock is quieter and cheaper. All three are easy moves with good road access and rarely any parking issues outside the village centres.
What we move in Kildare every week
To give you a flavour of the variety: last week alone we did a 2-bed flat from Drumcondra to Naas, a sofa pickup from a marketplace seller in Newbridge for a customer in Maynooth, an IKEA delivery to a new build in Celbridge, an office desk run from Sandyford to a co-working space in Naas, and a small student move from Maynooth back to a family home in Galway. The point is — if you can think of a Kildare moving job, we've probably done it this month.
